Helping an Executor Resolve an Estate Collection

After the passing of her brother, the executor of his estate contacted MDRF to better understand a firearm collection that, like many estates, included much more than firearms alone. Careful identification helped the family better understand what the estate contained before making important decisions.

Like many estate projects, this one began with photographs the family shared during our initial consultation. Those images helped us understand the scope of the collection before traveling to Centralia for an on-site evaluation.

Those initial photographs often allow us to identify potential areas that deserve closer attention during the on-site visit, making the evaluation more organized and efficient.

The estate included hunting rifles, shotguns, modern sporting rifles, handguns, optics, magazines, and related accessories. As we worked through the collection, we also identified several handmade knives that had been mixed in with ordinary household items.

Estate collections often include much more than firearms alone. Proper identification of the entire collection helps families and executors make informed decisions.
