Bow Collection Appraisal & Estate Removal Case Study
This one came out of Rock Hill, Missouri, and it was different from most of our calls, but just as important.
A daughter reached out to us after finding MDRF Enterprises online. She had Power of Attorney for her father, who had recently become disabled and was being moved into a long-term care facility. The home was being emptied in preparation for both his move and the eventual sale of the property. During the clean-out, she uncovered a serious archery collection.

Inside the home were six compound bows and two crossbows, all stored in quality hard cases and soft cases, with extra arrows, bolts, and accessories. Brands included Bear Archery, Barnett, Alpine Archery, along with a few others. Everything was clean, well cared for, and clearly owned by someone who took his gear seriously.
She told us directly, “I had no idea what to do with any of this.”
That is something we hear more often than people realize.
Even though MDRF is known primarily for firearms, we also work in hunting, fishing, and shooting-sports adjacent property. We set up a time to view the collection, inspected each piece, verified models, condition, accessories, and current market demand, then completed a full FMV and MCV valuation.
Once the numbers were documented, we made a fair cash offer on the spot.
The explanation mattered just as much as the offer. We walked her through what each piece was, why certain bows carried more value than others, and how condition and accessories impact resale. That transparency gave her confidence in the decision.
She accepted the offer.
As part of the transaction, she received our formal FMV/MCV XLS receipt, which provided:
Clear valuation
Chain of custody documentation
Estate and record-keeping support
Peace of mind for her legal responsibilities
That documentation alone was a huge relief for her.
This was not our typical firearm pickup. However, it was exactly the kind of situation we step into when families are overwhelmed and unsure how to move forward.
If it connects to hunting, fishing, shooting, or outdoor sporting equipment, we will always take the call.
Situations involving disability, long-term care, or major household transitions often raise questions about how sporting and shooting equipment should be handled. Our guide on firearms during major life transitions in Missouri explains how families and professionals can approach these situations responsibly.
